I’m excited to offer on consignment this desirable 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera G50 Targa, which represents the last of its generation. Finished in rare Velvet Red Metallic, contrasted by a Cashmere/Black-Partial Leather Interior. The vehicle has had four Florida owners in the last 33 years who added 106k miles. The current owner who has several Porsche’s and is an active PCA (Porsche Club of America) member purchased the car in 2003 at 88k miles for winter pleasure use and it has been stored inside at his residence in Gainesville ever since. At delivery the new owner will receive, three keys, owner’s manual set/folder, maintenance invoices and most of the accessories that were included with the car when new.
Maintenance:
The vehicle has some documented maintenance and stamps in the maintenance booklet going back to 1994.
Highlights include:
2003, at 91k miles, a new 930 Turbo Clutch was installed by Redline Autowerks, Gainesville Florida.
2018, Front Seats restored using new covers from Auto’s International Escondido, CA.

2022, Chris Moore of Autobahn Extremist, Brookline Heights, OH went through the car at a cost of $4,500 to ensure that it was in good order prior to being sold.

Condition:
The car presents very well, I would describe it as mostly original in 3 condition (nice driver) based on the Hagerty Scale, the mileage of 106k and its 33 years of age. The paint with the exception of the hood and bumpers is original with no signs of accident damage, there are a few minor imperfections, consummate with the age and mileage of the vehicle. The Targa top is original/undamaged and in decent condition for 33 years old. The interior is very nice and benefits greatly from the restored front seats, the dashboard is in good condition with only a small crack next to the main light switch. The car starts without effort and drives solidly.

The 911/997.2 marks the end of the truly analog 911. The 3.8-liter 385hp DFI Flat 6 Engine offers exciting performance, the PDK Gearbox shifts seamlessly and the car handles like a dream with the Sport Chassis there when desired. Opportunities to purchase Time Warp Porsche’s like this don’t come along too often and this Targa with only 379 examples delivered worldwide in 2011 has already attained collector status in my opinion. If you’ve been dreaming about owning something like this for the last 10 years now’s your chance!

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
- 140,800 mi
- 5 Speed Manual
- Targa
On Consignment 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa with desirable G50 Gearbox. The current owner purchased the car from the estate of a relative in 2012, a Doctor in Las Vegas. Since that time it has been covered in heated, dry storage and only seen very occasional use (500 miles).
The vehicle spent most of it’s life out West according to the Clean Carfax (link below), this is evidenced by the extremely nice condition of the bodywork/paint & lack of any rust. On taking possession of the car I changed some of the fluids and drove it approximately 30 miles, it performed quite well considering the years of inactivity. The engine starts and runs without smoke and pulls as you would expect. The gearbox shifts smoothly when warm, the brakes are in very good condition and the tires are new. The car has clearly been well maintained over it’s life, however the maintenance records have been lost to time. Due to the many years of inactivity, some further mechanical servicing should be completed prior to returning the car to full use.
This is a great opportunity to acquire a solid G50 911 at a very reasonable price. It won’t take too much of an investment to bring this car into very strong driver condition. I’m happy to discuss the car in detail to all prospective buyers.
Included in the sale are: Spare Wheel, Jack, Partial Tool Kit, Owners Manual & 3 Keys.
The specification of the car are as follows:
Exterior: Black (L700), Interior: Black Partial Leather (LT)
018 Sport steering wheel with elevated hub
158 Radio “Monterey” – 86 “Reno” – 87
395 Light metal wheels – forged
